Following on from recording Satirical Magazine readings, it’s been fairly busy. I decided I wanted a ‘different’ type of guitar for recording future clean tones. It doesn’t get much further away from ‘me’ than this 1998 Epiphone Sheraton. Although i liked the look of the Eastman T59VRD and the Rivolta Regata VIII, they were a bit too pricey for a guitar I may potentially use much less than say, the Musicman.
This Sheraton (1998), was made in the Samick Factory in Korea, well known for making quality instruments, and it shows, most specially in the neck. A lovely instrument for the price.
This kind of guitar I find restrictive, but sometimes that is helpful when writing, as it forces you to adapt. It can handle cleans up to hard rock, but it is not quite fast enough to play anything approaching a heavy sound. That’s just fine. It does clean well.
